Google Cloud has successfully partnered with NYS to tailor a solution for those who applying for Unemployment Insurance during the Coronavirus crisis

By now, everyone has heard of the major difficulty in applying for unemployment benefits.  Systems just crashed, leaving people who just lost their jobs with deep frustration on top of their fear.  Many unemployment systems across the country were built and coded in computer language from a generation (or more) ago.  A new process had to be put in place and rapidly scaled up to meet historic claims volume.  New York State partnered with Google Cloud to get it done and the results are in: it worked.  In 10 days, the unemployment application backlog has been reduced from 275,000 to 4,305.  That’s impressive.  See the press release here: https://www.labor.ny.gov/pressreleases/2020/april-20-2020.shtm

Google Cloud successfully partnered with the New York State to tailor this solution in the middle of a crisis.  The power of Google Cloud helps governments improve their data analytics, the delivery of citizen services and secure critical information.
