The U.S. Department of Transportation under Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao has recently appointed Michael Balboni to serve as a public representative on its Technical Pipeline Safety Standards Committee. This Committee is commonly referred to as the Gas Pipeline Advisory Committee (GPAC).
GPAC serves as an advisory body to the U.S. Department of Transportation and is responsible for evaluating proposed pipeline safety and environmental protection standards. GPAC also provides information, advice, and recommendations on policy initiatives.
In his capacity as a public representative to this Committee, Balboni will use his 20+ years in public safety and homeland security to add valuable insights and perspectives to help support the work of GPAC and the Department’s efforts to review the U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration’s regulatory initiatives to help further the GPAC’s mission.
